THE MEDIEVAL INTERNET

Prepare short answers to the following questions.  They must be turned in by the beginning of class on Monday, February 16th, either by e-mail or in hard copy.  Be prepared to discuss your findings in class that day.(Worth 7% of your course grade)


1.	Locate the Rule of St. Benedict in our library and on the web.  
Identify two passages in the rule that you think would have a bearing on the art and architecture of the monastic communities that followed it.




2.	Locate some images (more than one) of medieval art on the web.  (These are works of art between approximately 300-1400 ad.)  When you locate these images, identify them fully:Artist, title, date, URL.


	What search words are helpful?   Did one of the search engines work better than another?


	Are these images available in our library?


	Which is the better source of these images, library or web?


3.	How would you characterize the audience for medieval art on the web?  Why
do you think there are not very many medieval art sites?
