Anecdote of the Jar

I placed a jar in Tennessee,
And round it was, upon a hill.
It made the slovenly wilderness
Surround that hill.

The wilderness rose up to it,
And sprawled around, no longer wild.
The jar was round upon the ground
And tall and of a port in air.

It took dominion everywhere.
The jar was gray and bare.
It did not give of bird or bush,
Like nothing else in Tennessee.

By surveying what people liked and disliked in their art, these artists made composites of the paintings most calculated to please various nationalities. Americans express a strong preference for landscapes or similar outdoor scenes.

The Centro de estudios fotográficos de Vigo showed her work in 1996, but it is difficult to locate in this site with frames (easier if you can read Spanish!).
Two images from the 1996 Vigo exhibition are posted at Zone Zero, Song of the Dawn
