RESEARCH INTERESTS

Medieval and Renaissance Art, particularly in Bavaria and Austria, with an emphasis on iconographical questions. Relationships between art, drama, and ceremony. Current research focuses on the art and liturgical culture of the Augustinian canonry at Klosterneuburg, in Austria, including its patron St. Leopold. Always interested in: representations of women, alchemical and occult sciences in the late medieval period, Augustine, and issues of dissimulation.

The life and achievements of Raymond P. Shafer (1927- ), Allegheny College Class of 1938, Pennsylvania Governor 1967-1971. The website is based on an exhibit of memorabilia selected from his personal archives, currently housed at Pelletier Library.
